Spring cleanup! We all do it; it refreshes our homes and yards. Sometimes, though, cleaning up isn’t enough. There can still be some damage from winter, from the sudden freezes, or even falling frozen iguanas here in Florida.
Hurricane season follows winter and spring. And hurricanes, even if they don’t do any damage that has to be repaired or rebuilt, the particulates (salt, mud, dirt, stones, wood pieces, cars…) in the water that washes over everything can do their brand of damage.
That little patch of mold on the house’s foundation can be dangerous. The little trail of stained water where the rain gutters got full of leaves and overflowed can lead to more issues than you realize. The mud on the driveway from the sprinkler head that was mended makes a mess. Algae from that same sprinkler flood – fungus is not fun. Those things, and more, can damage property by damaging paint, finishes, and other surfaces. They can leave stains permanently and patches of… unsavory stuff.
Easy? NO!
Although your landscape care gurus at Custom Acres Lawn Service make pressure washing look easy, it is NOT. A mistake can be costly in property and bodily injury. Although the equipment can be rented, just call your Custom Acres partners to do it for you. You already do business with them, so you know how reliable they are. It will be faster, less expensive, and quite frankly, better done.
What can be done?
Let’s see…
- House siding (not loose)
- Garage doors and floors
- Paths
- Driveway
- Sidewalks
- Foundations
- Any hardscaping
- Pool decks
- Porches
- Grills
- Outdoor living areas and outdoor furniture
- Fences
- Walls
- Garbage cans or dumpsters
- Cars and trucks
Pressure washing can remove dirt, mud, algae, mold and mildew, dust, and dried plant matter. That green gunk that turned into dried dusty gunk between the stones on your patio? Gone! The moldy-looking stuff that clings to the boards of your fence or lanai or deck? Yes, that’s gone, too!
In fact, it’s not all. that unusual for friends and neighbors to wonder if you had your house or business repainted after a pressure watch. Likewise, your HOA will be impressed!
And let’s just say here, even if you’re renting, your landlord will be happy with the job you’re doing maintaining the property. This might result in good things.
Business matters
If you own a business, the hard surfaces and sidewalks, parking lots, and loading docks would also benefit from pressure washing. Businesses get a lot of traffic, especially if you’re selling goods rather than services.
With each delivery through the front door or back loading dock, your business gets traffic. Each person that comes to profit from your sage advice or wide array of goods has to come through a door – one that leads outside. Where green or black gooey stuff is, it would be MUCH better if it didn’t end up inside, on the soles of some unsuspecting client’s shoes. Yes, indeed, time for a power wash.
Other benefits
In this day and age, when the necessity of having things delivered exists, a well-maintained house and lawn will leave a better impression. The delivery person might even think about ringing the bell to let you know your stuff is delivered! Progress!
You may even become the cause of traffic jams in your neighborhood with all the folks stopping to take in the view of your home. Your house looks so much better – some might even say picture perfect!
A property with a fresh pressure wash all around will have better curb appeal if you’re thinking about selling. While you may like the neighborhood and the neighbors, a time may come to turn your home into an investment opportunity. Although, maybe now that the house looks new and fresh, moving may be vastly overrated!
Scheduled power washes should happen at least once a year, or maybe twice a year. It’s an excellent time to renew during your spring cleaning, but, as you know, Florida is the mold, mildew, algae, fungus capital of the universe, especially during the summer. The heat, and the heavy amount of humidity, coupled with that cloudburst every afternoon after lunch, will make things sprout with reckless abandon. So late summer or early fall would also be a good time for a power wash.
If you don’t already do business with Custom Acres, now would be a good time to give them a call to arrange for a consultation. First, they will tell you about all their services. Then, planners will walk your property with you, and you can point out any areas you think might be trouble spots. The planners will probably point out more of those areas; they know what to look for.
Once the exploration of your property is done, they will develop a plan of action with you and give you a breakdown of costs, schedules, and tasks. You will be able to choose the services to start doing business with them, with options for adding services as time goes on. It’s much easier to do all of your outdoor maintenance with one company and be able to rely on them. Even more important, they will see other tasks over time and suggest solutions to problems.
If you’re not thinking of selling, your home is renewed outside. It goes well with your regular spring cleaning inside and the spring cleaning your landscape partners give your property every year. It might even inspire you to experiment beyond the lawn and try planters or flower bedding. But, of course, none of this is beyond the skills of you or your Custom Acres landscapers. Do you have ideas? They have ideas!
