Whether it’s creating a lawn from scratch, planting a new tree, or designing your new flowerbeds, we have the tools, knowledge, and expertise to make your plant installation go off without a hitch.
So do you have ideas for what to plant? Are you looking for them? Either way, we’ve got you covered!
Landscape Design
Before we get started, let’s talk about what you want. Custom Acres values customer service and customization, so an in-depth conversation with you, the customer, is an integral part of the process.
Some of what we’ll discuss will include color and texture, desired maintenance level, budget, favorite plants, and more. We’ll also find out how you use your yard. All of these factors are important for your landscape design.
Once we have your design planned, we’ll be able to begin your landscape installation.
Plant Installation
Everything has to start somewhere. The mighty oak begins as an acorn, and every flower is originally a seed.
Your yard and garden may begin as seedlings, or you can plant whole plants. It all depends on your budget and level of patience. Custom Acres can accommodate whatever your needs may be.
Flowerbeds
Installing flowerbeds seems like a simple process. And it is. But there is a lot of knowledge that goes into doing it well.
To properly install your flowerbeds, we’ll need to know more than just the flower species, colors, and textures you want. Although all are important, we will also need to know about your soil composition and the best time to plant.
Luckily our expertise means you don’t have to have that knowledge. We just need your desired garden bed size, color scheme, and how often you want to change plants. Once we have the basic knowledge, we will work on design and installation.
Preparing the soil is the first step in installing a flowerbed. We will need to ensure the soil is loose, has the correct acidity, and is fertilized for the eventual flower you want.
We may also suggest what flowers will grow well with your chosen varieties and which annuals might be suitable for spicing up your perennials (or vice versa)!
Finally, we’ll want to set you up with a rich mulch to protect you from weeds and give you that perfect contrast of color!
Raised Beds & Retaining Walls
Want to do a little something extra with your flowers? Want to have multiple levels of color? Raised beds and retaining walls might be just the ticket to make your gardens stand up and stand out.
Retaining walls allow you to have gardens where they would not usually be able to thrive due to erosion. Because Custom Acres is adept at building retaining walls, we can add raised garden beds to your property wherever you want to add some vertical interests.
Sod Installation
Of course, plant installation isn’t just about flowers and color. Every landscape needs a base; for most yards, that base is grass.
A good lawn starts with good seeds. But if you have large bare spots, you probably don’t want to wait for grass stalks to spring up. (Watching grass grow is famously unstimulating, after all).
Here’s where sod comes in. Sod installation is a great way to speed up adding a lawn to a bare yard or filling in bare spots in an already existing property.
Like with other plants, sod installation begins with soil prep. We will aerate your soil, fertilize it, check it for acidity, and soak the ground before laying down the sod.
Once we install the sod, it’s essential to continue to water it and not walk on it while it’s growing. But, don’t worry; we’ll give you all the instructions you need to ensure a successful rooting.
Tree Planting
Trees sure do add a lot to a property. They’re a place to build a tree house or climb, get some shade from the heat, and admire from a distance as you approach your home.
At Custom Acres, we don’t just trim and prune trees that are already on your property; we plant the trees that you want.
Like everything else, we’ll start with a plan to ensure that your property is ready to nurture the trees we are planting. Then, once we locate the suitable location for the tree you want us to install, we’ll prep the soil and ensure the tree is safely installed with everything it needs to thrive.
In Florida, with our legendary hurricane season, it’s vital to have experts in tree safety to help you think through the proper location for any plants.
Shrubs
If you want to give your gardens some height but you’re not quite ready for a tree, shrubs are an excellent option for you. Like trees, we install, prune, and trim shrubs and can find the perfect way for shrubs to be part of your garden.
Maintenance
As mentioned, the level of maintenance is an essential factor to consider when selecting plants for your garden design and installation. But even low-maintenance shrubs and perennials require some care.
Custom Acres is always available for routine plant care and seasonal clean-up needs.
Repair & Replacement

Part of routine plant care is repair and replacement. Sod might get bare spots due to a storm. Trees can lose limbs, and unfortunately, especially after a hurricane, some plants don’t survive a season.
When you make Custom Acres your landscaping partner, we provide custom care for all of your landscaping needs. We will check on all your plants each season to ensure they are healthy and getting their needs met. If we have suggestions for you, we’ll give them, and then we’ll help you through the decision-making process.
Creating and maintaining your yard can be an enjoyable and rewarding process. And plant installation is just the first step. Have landscaping and plant installation questions? We want to help!
